How to Create a Shoe

Making your own shoe is not as difficult as you may think. Here are the steps involved in making a pair of shoes:

1. Cut out two-five squares of fabric. One square should be large enough to fit around your foot, and one should be small enough to fit inside the big square with about 1 inch of allowance on each side. 2.

Sew together the edges of both pieces of fabric so that they overlap and create a pocket for your foot to slide into. 3. Trace your foot onto paper or on a textile. 4. Cut out the foot shape from the traced paper or textile.

5. Put one of your shoes in the pocket of fabric and put an inch mark on each side. Cut a slit in both sides of the fabric using those marks as guides to make holes for your laces. 6.

Find a pair of boots or shoes that you really like and that fit well, then trace them onto paper or on another textile with a marker, making sure that it is accurate down to the tiniest detail:

Make sure that the fabric colors you choose for your shoe don't clash with each other too much or else the design will lose its flavor; remember that sometimes, simpler is better (just look at the light blue shoes in Step #8). 3.

If your shoe looks a little strange, don't worry; you can always embellish it with a few decorations like fringes, tassels, or shaped laces.
